Dear PARBICA members

 

I am delighted to convey the great news that our Recordkeeping for Good
Governance Toolkit has won an award from the Australian Society of
Archivists (ASA). The award was announced at the welcome reception for
the ASA Conference in Melbourne last Thursday evening and was accepted
on behalf of PARBICA by Ross Gibbs, Director-General of the National
Archives of Australia.

 

The details of the award appear below in the notification received from
the Secretary of the ASA's Mander Jones Awards Committee.

 

Congratulations to everyone involved in this achievement - particularly
to those PARBICA members who have participated in the work of the
different reference groups that have guided the development of the
different phases of the Toolkit Project.

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the Pacific Regional
Branch of the International Council on Archives has won an Australian
Society of Archivists Mander Jones Award for the Recordkeeping for Good
Governance Toolkit, in category 1A: 'Publication making the greatest
contribution to the archives profession in Australia written by or on
behalf of a corporate body'. 

 

The judges noted that this was 'Very useful and practical publication,
simple but flexible and could be a model for other similar
works/projects', and 'A splendid Tool Kit that could be used to good
effect right across Australia'.

 

The awards ceremony is to be held at the welcome reception for the ASA's
Annual National Conference on Thursday 14 October 2010 from 6.00pm -
8.00pm at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), Federation
Square, cnr Swanston Street and Flinders Street, Melbourne. If you could
please nominate someone to accept the award on behalf of PARBICA and let
me know by October 12 that would be much appreciated.

 

Please keep this information fairly confidential until the ceremony.
