Dear CLAIM colleagues,
After four very happy and enjoyable years working with SPREP in Samoa, my family and I have made the difficult decision to relocate to Auckland, NZ. Our decision is based on personal / family reasons.
It has been a great pleasure and privilege to be involved with the formation of CLAIM and I would like to wish you all the best for the future growth and development of this very important working group. I have enjoyed immensely the opportunity to get to know you either during regional workshops and meetings or in-country visits. A personal highlight has been the collaboration with my CROP colleagues in the development of the PIMRIS portal in partnership with our good friends at the IODE in Belgium. It is I believe an excellent example of the value of both inter-agency collaboration and international cooperation [ http://www.pimrisportal.org/ ] . It is also very pleasing that our CLAIM group now has official recognition and status within the CROP structure and a potential platform for promoting a regional strategy for strengthening access to information in the region and for building capacity in library and archives management.
I will be returning to NZ on 24 January with my last day here at SPREP being 21 January. SPREP will soon be advertising for a new IRC Manager / PEIN Coordinator and SPREP is committed to continuing to support the strengthening of regional information sharing networks and in particular exploring linkages and synergies with our CROP partners.
Until such time as the new IRC Manager is in place, the contact point for the SPREP Information Resource Centre is the Deputy Librarian, Miraneta Williams-Hazelman [ miranetaw at sprep.org ]
I wish you well for the next CLAIM meeting and for an exciting year of CLAIM activities in 2011.
After departing from SPREP I can be contacted at Murgatroyd.p at gmail.com . Once settled in New Zealand, I will be available for short term contract work / consultancies and would welcome the opportunity to continue to work with CLAIM partners in the region.
Best wishes.
Peter Murgatroyd
