Good morning CLAIM,

 

There was a call from PARBICA to support or suggest a theme for the
conference.  I responded with support for the Democracy & Digitization
theme, as it fits well with our work about good governance, and told him
a bit about what CLAIM is doing.

 

Mark responded:

 

In 2009 we were successful at having good recordkeeping mentioned in the
communique from the Pacific Forum in Cairns.

If you look real hard it's in Annex C

 

 d. Achieving stronger national development through better governance
by:

 

ii. committing to sustainable and appropriate: collection and
compilation of statistics; information management; and records-keeping,
to ensure the development and implementation of better-informed national
policy;

  

We've also been working with PIFS to explore the possibility of running
some PIFS funded (or PIFS sourced funding) recordkeeping workshops
throughout the region.  .

 

This may help you guys with your mission. Let us know if you want some
sort of message of support from our members etc (maybe we could work up
a declaration at the Samoan conference....), or if there is any other
assistance we could give.

 

(emphasis added by me).  So this suggests very positive potential
collaborations with CLAIM and PARBICA which we should follow up with.
