[Culturetalk] Roi Mata Study Tour

Hello everyone,

 

Just to let you know that during 16-20 May 2011 we will be running a Study
Tour to Chief Roi Mata's Domain (CRMD) World Heritage area.  The aim of this
tour is to provide people working in the field of cultural heritage
(professionals, managers, students) to experience first hand the wonders as
well as the challenges of Vanuatu's first World Heritage site.  The Tour is
specifically designed for people interested in engaging with cultural
heritage landscapes of the Pacific region, and in learning more about how a
World Heritage nomination is developed with strong community involvement and
ownership.  Guides from the community-owned Roi Mata Cultural Tours will
lead the group through each of the sites, and recount the most important
events of Roi Mata's life and their continuing significance for the people
of Vanuatu today.  Participants will spend time with the management team of
CRMD, the landowners, and the Lelema community, and some of the external
consultants involved in the nomination and post-inscription management.
