40 years combat against the illicit trafficking of cultural property- past and future of the 1970 Convention 


The prevalent problem of illicit archeological excavations and the trafficking of religious objects, the expansion of the international art market, crimes connected with the illicit trade in cultural property and the financing of terrorist activities attract considerable media and political attention. The 1970 Convention is at the heart of the problem. UNESCO evaluates the issue together with internationally renowned personalities and experts, as well as with its traditional partners.
