At the time of its adoption in 2005 by the 33rd General Conference, the
2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of
Cultural Expressions captured widespread media attention. Since its
entry into force in 2007, UNESCO's efforts had been concentrated on
making the Convention operational. Now that the Convention is equipped
with a set of the Operational Guidelines for the implementation of the
Convention, UNESCO intends to reinforce its action to promote the
visibility of the Convention both for rallying more ratification by
non-States Parties and for promoting its implementation.    

UNESCO plans to produce six posters, which are to be designed by young
graphic designers from six geographical regions (Europe, Asia, Pacific,
Latin America and Caribbean, Africa and Arab). 

Each graphic designer will receive a fee of 500 USD to create a
promotional poster whose design conveys main  principles of the 2005
Convention. Copyrights of the posters will belong to UNESCO through
signing a cession of right. 

The poster designs may be used to create other promotional materials
such as a greeting card or a postcard.
